WICÂ BENEFITS
What services and benefits does WIC offer?
WIC participants get to meet with a nutrition professional at every WIC appointment to discuss any topics concerning them during pregnancy and beyond. At your first WIC appointment the WIC nutritionist will ask you questions about your health and eating habits, then provide you with information to help your family get off to a great start. You'll meet with a nutritionist every 1-3 months so we can answer any questions you have and to update your WIC food package.
At WIC we support your choice to breastfeed. We know that breastfeeding is the ideal source of nutrition for babies up to a year old and beyond. At WIC you have access to certified lactation counselors who can help you choose a breastfeeding goal, and give you information and resources to meet your breastfeeding goals. WIC has a website dedicated to breastfeeding as well. Click here for more information.
REFERRALS
In addition to in office education and breastfeeding support, WIC can get you in contact with other resources in the area. Whether it's finding a pediatrician or dentist, enrolling in daycare or preschool, we've got information for you.
WIC FOODS
Your WIC nutritionist will assign a supplemental food package based on recommendations for a well balanced diet. Depending on your situation, your food package might look different than another WIC family. The amounts of each food item will vary, but all WIC foods will help you shop for foods from each major food group.
Dairy: We offer milk, yogurt, and cheese or another dairy substitute depending on the family need.
Protein: You can get eggs, beans, and/or peanut butter.

Fruits and vegetables: You will get a cash value benefit to use towards fruits and vegetables of your choice.

Whole Grains: You have the option between whole wheat bread, whole grain pasta, tortillas, or brown rice. You can also get whole grain cereals.

Infant foods: Between 6 months and a year old, infants on WIC can get baby foods through WIC. WIC promotes exclusive breastfeeding for all infants; however, infants who are not exclusively breastfed may also receive infant formula.
